Zhang Zhen Xue's works are neither critical nor lyrical. Instead of being ridicule, they are a bit “wishy-washy” judging by popular standards. He tries to shape images by digestion, pulling images out, and relieving strong uncertainty in the visual sense. Zhang recently focused on painting mirrors, chandeliers, playground machines as well as magnificent sceneries. To him, mirrors reflect blurred worlds; while chandeliers light the most beautiful and fragile radiance. The playground is a temporary habitat of happiness; while the magnificent sceneries are remarkably empty.
Zhang tries not to emphasize on his works’ direct visual sense. He stresses on his own way of thinking and working. He doesn’t emphasize on system either. He believes that the system or continuity are beyond pre-assumption or classification. It could only become possible after long-term accumulation.
