Shanghai’s ART LABOR Gallery presents Belorussian artist VLADIMIR DUBKO for his 1st solo exhibition in China.. Giclée prints, digital interactive installation and intricately carved, silkscreened woodworks make delicate reference to the duality inherent in any given historical situation. The artist pays an elegant tribute to erotic elements in fashion, placed within ornamental architectural structures, around a world of Cirque-Du-Soleil-like surprises, a land of fishnet stockings and ferris wheels, gems and silhouettes, palm trees and and hallucines.
CURATOR MASHA SEGUY has brought ART LABOR Gallery these romantic, undeniably captivating art works as our ALMOST final last VERY big hurrah before shutting the doors on our present gallery space and moving to our new and bigger space just down the street in SPRING 2010. (we were supposed to be moving this month but... best laid schemes o' mice an' men... yada yada - we'll be out of here SOON!)
Presently art director for advertising agency McCann Erickson in Shanghai, Vladimir Dubko’s art career was jump started in the renowned creative center of United Colors of Benetton’s Fabrica, and also with Lane Crawford in Hong Kong. He has shown at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and was featured in the most recent edition of Taschen’s “Contemporary Graphic Design”, amongst many other accomplishments.
