Cheng Yuyang was born in Sichuan Province in 1958.
In 1975, as a senior high school graduate, Cheng Yuyang went to the old countryside where he had previously received re-education with his paint brush and palette.
In 1977, Cheng was drafted into the army at Beijing, where he held several positions including reporter, writer, head of movie projector team, etc.
In 1983, together with his unit, Chen was transferred to the publication department of Beijing No. 5 Urban Construction Company,
In the same year, he studied oil-painting at China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1990, Cheng became a professional photojournalist at Beijing Daily Newspaper Press. He earned his opportunity during the 11th Asian Game held in Beijing. With a half month’s industrious work, Chen Yuyang won several awards including the Silver Awards of the 11th Asian Game Photographing competition and the First Prize of the 11th Asian Game National Photographing competition. Beijing Youth Daily also gave him a Star Journalist title. Besides, he was also the winner of the 1st Chinese Photojournalist Golden Eye awards and Silver awards of Annual Chinese Journalist Prize during his 20 years at Beijing Daily Newspaper Press.
In 2008, Cheng’s photography work Wujiang Boat Tracker was collected by Hong Kong Museum of Art.
In 2009, Cheng held his solo exhibition at MR Gallery in Beijing 798 Art District with his series photography work God?Human Being.
In the same year, Cheng’s series work exhibition Reverse was held at ME Photo Art Gallery in Beijing 798 Art District.
In 2010, Cheng’s photography work God?Human Being (Series work) was shown at Photo L.A, and will be shown at Photo Miami Art Fair in U.S.A.
