Born and raised in Paris, after graduating from HEC Business School in France, Bei Ling Yue works for the environment protection department of the French capital. Fascinated by the challenges big cities have to face, she particularly appreciates spending time with the street workers, many of whom are migrants. For over 10 years, Bei discovers different western countries, their languages and cultures. With her Greek husband and their 3 children, she lives in Brussels, Madrid, New York City and Düsseldorf. Her emotional sensitivity develops, fueled by these experiences. 2010 is a turning point for Bei Ling Yue. She arrives in Shanghai and is deeply moved by what she sees. She feels the need to seize with her camera special moments she witnesses. As her vision of Shanghai becomes clearer to her, she starts experimenting with her computer to emphasize this vision. One of her first works « Do you want a haircut ? » is selected and published in January 2012 by the French magazine PHOTO in the category Digital Creation. This recognition of her work encourages her to pursue in this direction leading to the Shanghai Series.
