Wu Junyong, a young Chinese artist, graduate of the New Media Department of the famous China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, has since his initial outset devoted himself to the art of video animation.

Influenced by the great Flemish painters of the Renaissance, Wu Junyong has since developed an entire universe of Surrealist fables throughout a great number of medium (animation, painting, drawing, installation...)

In this exhibition at ifa gallery, his first solo in Europe, which makes reference to the painting of Pieter Brueghel the Elder “The Blind leading the Blind”, Wu invites us to penetrate a universe which occupies the entire gallery space. The symbols of Chinese society are less present, as with his most recent works, as for him, ignorance and this “World of the Blind” are not exclusive to the Middle Kingdom, yet well concern all our societies.

Present on the opening day, Wu Junyong shall work in the gallery for another 10 days to create new works in situ.
