Jin Yide - Lifetime pater and professor at the renowned Oil Painting Department at China Academy of Fine Arts, Hangzhou. Jin Yide achieved remarkable positions in painting during his creative phase.

This exhibition aims to illuminate his achievements in painting with some rare early works, a focus on his favarite and unique Magnolia Paintings - which he kept reinventing over more than 10 years - and his latest series The Elderly.

The Elderly - series, which he started in 2005, is especially remarkable. Using strong dark lines Jin Yide shows the process of aging in an outstanding expressive manner. It is a great reference to his former use of lines in human portraiture. In this series he is leaning the subjects against an almost monochrome backdrop with a special focus on the very personal facial expressions revealing the transience of life.
