"My paintings originate from the photographed moments, which provide details and frozen frames that the naked eyes can neither distinguish nor memorize. In this way, it is possible for me to amplify the moments and solidify them into eternal psychological scenes with strokes, colors and shapes.
In the series of Angel in Water, babies swim and hover peacefully as if they were in wombs. I look up slightly and view the scenes totally from the underwater. Due to the perspective different from the conventional practices of looking horizontally and looking down, the paintings show a picture of bodies in water, against the background of unique underwater scenes.
From these paintings, you experience the holiness of the early life in water, get shocked by the vitality of light and shadow, feel the gentleness and are tempted by the unclear faces. From these paintings, you feel that the desire to go back to the innocent ages hurts the lost souls again and again. "- A few words by Zhang Chenchu
