18Gallery is proud to celebrate its second birthday with a special colourful and energetic show by JonOne. The internationally renowned artist JonOne returns to Shanghai as a symbol since the gallery opened its first show with him back in June 2009. In a totally unprecedented show, from July 8th to August 25th, JonOne presents totally new works using not only the two dimensional space of the canvas but also invading the entire space with a large scale installation. Through this exceptional art project, JonOne goes beyond his own limits and Sheds a new light on his work. Known for his graffiti style, his amazing sense of colors, now he goes to 3D with an explosion of colors constructing a giant set of color shapes and playing with the gallery space. After his first exhibition in Shanghai in 2009 and an art residency with the Ailing Foundation in 2010, JonOne returns for the third time to China. In China the artist founds a rich source of inspiration and new materials. His abstract lettering has a deep echo with the traditional Chinese writing. JonOne paints giant mural works as a tribute to Chinese calligraphy.
