Over the last few years the Hei Qiao neighbourhood of Beijing has developed organically into a living, creating and exhibiting space for a group of young artists from outside Beijing. With its contemporary art, architectural space, historical culture, its own unique urban and rural environment and a new way of life, Hei Qiao neighborhood is gradually evolving into the latest trend in cultural communities.

The upcoming exhibition at Eastlink Shanghai "Four Choices for You", will show the creations of four young artists from Hei Qiao: Song Chen, Wang Zhuo, Li Yuwen and Zhao Yiqian. They share the same generation and educational background, and are each actively involved with the relationship between contemporary art and traditional culture. The show reflects themes of illusion and reality; memory and future; individualism and social involvement. Viewing these works, we are struck by the budding awareness and social responsibility of these young artists.
