Hyperphotos
by Galerie Paris-Beijing
Location: Galerie Paris-Beijing
Artist(s): Jean-Francois RAUZIER
Date: 3 Mar - 18 Apr 2012

Galerie Paris-Beijing is pleased to welcome for his first exhibition in Asia, the French artist Jean-François Rauzier who will be showing a selection of sixteen giant prints from his amazing series « Hyperphotos ».
Between installation and photography, Hyperphotos are gigantic hyperrealist puzzle, created by assembling hundreds of close-up shots taken with a telephoto lens.

Jean-François Rauzier creates a world beyond limits, immense panoramic landscapes in which the infinitely huge and the infinitely tiny are melded together at the heart of the same vision. As the artist himself says, “Hyperphotos are the realization of an old dream that would be impossible without digital technology: to see the big picture and at the same time the close-up, to stop time and be able to examine all the details of the fixed image.” Rauzier’s evocative images immerse the spectator into a dreamlike, sometimes fantastic universe. They offer a reflection on reality, the place of man in the city, the perception of the world and an invitation to an exceptional journey.
Jean-François Rauzier was born in 1952. Fascinated by photography from an early age, he graduated from the School Louis Lumière in 1976. He has since been working as a professional photographer, while developing a personal creative work.
In 2002 he invents the concept of the HYPERPHOTO and his artistic work takes an innovative and radical turn.

For a few years, this virtuoso of the digital technologies has been receiving the recognition and praise of his peers. He is the winner of prestigious artistic and photographic awards: in 2006, the show Up-date in Berlin awarded him the Screenings prize, in 2008, he received the Arcimboldo award for the digital creation, in 2009 he was rewarded by the APPPF in the category photograph of architecture and in 2010 he received the Eurazeo prize. His works are exhibited throughout the world in galleries, museums and festivals from New York to London, Los Angeles to Paris or Seoul…
