There are 17 artists with the name of Aiguo, Chen Wei, Fan Mingzheng, Huang Yang, Kang Haitao, Qiu Jingtong, Song Chen, Song Yongxing, Tan Jun, Tao Damin, Wang Yuanzheng, Wu Di, Xie Molin, Yu Aijun, Zhang Ying and Zhou Wenzhong taking part in this exhibition. This exhibition also includes various art types like oil, print, mixed media, device and sculpture, etc. The fifth “A+A” still doesn’t have fixed subject, mainly embodies artists’s different cognition towards life and times and depends on the subject of “nothing” to explore the inner side “power” of their works. It will be end on May 25, 2010.

After promoted for four years, “A+A” has become a mature brand exhibition in PIFO New Art Gallery and it was selected to be one of the 26 important promoting projects of Chinese Contemporary Art by Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China in 2009. From the year of 2006 to 2010, “A+A” has never been disconnected with the young artists and young art. Although it got away from the pop images and the repetitive shortcut creations consciously and advocated restoring the dignity of creation at the beginning, now it pays much attention to explore the inherent “power” of art works itself. Meanwhile, it uses five years’ actions to show PIFO’s rational aesthetic taste. The fifth “A+A” reminds us through the attitude of introspection that times and environment are dynamic and the anatomy of art works is also dynamic. The artists in this exhibition hold the attitude of “the inherent power of each work is infinite” to face the essential kernel of works and explore the new possibility of contemporary culture.      

Works presented in this exhibition not only include Easel paintings but also devices and mixed medias. Artists use traditional or all bran-new materials to paint, but different intermediums don’t let them be nuts about materials, and the only thing to obstruct artist is the continuous exploration of possibility himself. In some works, they use fragments to instead of traditional canvas and paper mixed materials instead of traditional rice papers. When visitors make careful consideration about the implication of the quotidian materials in the front of the bran-new materials, they will put forward various questions and supposes without doubt. And these questions and supposes will be overlapped with works, which becomes one aspect of inherent “power” in this exhibition. Depending on that, the subject will participate into the works.

At the same time, the artists participated in “A+A” exhibition are mostly born in 1970s, experiencing the greatest change of 30 years in the new China economy. The gap between outside and inside doesn’t make they fall into the swamp of "age", but rather looking into the inner heart and expressing their delicate Weltanschauung through the screen form and visual image. From the view of outside world, their works seem to fit with the contemporary antipathetically. Even if the color is gorgeous, the scene is flat and wide, we are also led into their own room created by themselves. Chinese literati painters have the tradition of creating "heart-made environment". After one work completed, they look into the heart as “impressing the heart with environment”, and discover the real and complete selves gradually. Heart and environment interacts with each other, which is another aspect of “power” of exploring works in the fifth “A+A”, to enable works to reflect the subject.

PIFO New Art Gallery has been dedicated to promote young artists. "A + A" as a showing platform for new art and young artists, brings the works which painted in the unique geographical and cultural contexts by young artists from all around the country together and makes infinite extension of the possibility of future development of contemporary art. Meanwhile, PIFO New Art Gallery is also making efforts to push Chinese young artists into a better development platform as well as searching better development direction for Chinese artists. Under the impetus of PIFO, Wang Chuan’s solo exhibition will be held after the fifth "A + A" in the middle of this year.
