A trio exhibition themed as “Echoing with Nature” is presenting the art works by Gu Zong, Chen Xiaolin, and Cheng Xiangjun at Dandeli Art Space. This interesting theme reflects the artists’ profound thoughts on the relations between the subjective self and objective nature, and that they are exploring on the multiple approaches to get the real answer. All art creations are based on two elements—the objective nature and the subjective self of the artist. The beauty, power, generosity, and great connotation of objective nature provide ever-green sources for the creation of art; therefore, the artists must respectfully delve into nature in order to attain achievement in art. Meanwhile, the reason why art is considered as a form of creation is that the artists echo with the subjective nature from their soul, not through apathetic copying and duplicating. The style, the sentiment and the taste of art works are decided by the artists’ attitude and way of echoing, which are part of the artists’ character and self-cultivation. Although the gift of an artist cannot be chosen by himself, his efforts can change his art’s creative character. As instructed by previous generations of Chinese scholars that “Read numerous volumes of books and walk ten thousand li (to seek knowledge)”, artists need to practice both art and life. With the increasing experience of life and art and the improvement of self-cultivation, every artist will evidently demonstrate his personality in art by vivid and various ways of echoing with the nature, and consequently, his art work will charm and influence the masses.
In this exhibition, the three talented artists, who are now living the vigorous period of their lives, create different styles of art work, but pursue the same goal with regard to echoing the nature in their art. This is the second time that they have opened a group exhibition with such a theme, but they are not complacent about their past achievement, in the other way around, they keep on striving to progress in the domain of art. From the art works in this exhibition, we see that they are making conversations with the nature through different mediums, and communicating with fellow artists and the mass for the purpose of seeking further improvement. Being sincere and passionate, their exploration is so significant that it will not only animate the field of art, but also enlighten the audience as well as fellow artists on the thoughts of art.
I wish a great success to the art exhibition “Echoing Nature”!
