Yu Haibo was born in Henan province and graduated from Wuhan University with a BA Photography. His most prominent photo story "China Dafen Oil Painting Village" won the second prize in the art and entertainment category of 49th World Press Photography Contest 2006 and has been collected by San Francisco Modern Art Museum.

In 2008 he published a photography book "Living in Shenzhen" to capture the memories remained in Chinaʼs massive urbanization. Meanwhile, he also works as a photography curator. "Memory of Shenzhen", a 2008 visual retrospective on Shenzhenʼs past 30 years was one of his most successful exhibitions among many others.

Yu Haibo has been watching this city for 18 years, and gradually felt that this city is like a column of trains departed with passengers full of trials and hardships from south to north, taking away numerous unknown stories. This city is also like a tunnel of the spirit, which is leading to the ideal and loading with the dream, scream, despair and hope of the life.
