“Lend U Art” project plays with the concept of lending, as “Woofer Ten - Shanghai Street Art Space” keeps on exploring different ways how art could infiltrate into the community. While it might be true that “the arts bring joy to life,” we believe it is vital for arts to be brought back to life in the very first place.
The “Lend U Art” project is an umbrella of different activities:
Accommodating
The project will invite ordinary people to share their “art collection”, observe their designated homely setting. People and artists are also invited to show works that art lovers could then borrow them back to their homes or workplaces.
Curating
We will also lend the existing “Artwork on Loan” programme and suggests creative ways people could utilize this resource, generating new curatorial interpretations to different works, as well as reflecting upon the programme.
Creating
Visitors are also welcome to engage in different activities associated with the project. There will be for example a drawing workshop, which people could copy the copies of the artworks from the “Artwork on Loan” project, turning them back into authentic works to bring back home. Or people could also fill in the gaps between works our guest curators selected, producing a work that challenges the curatorial message.
Throughout the whole January, we will also hold mini-classes and workshops so people could share or exchange what they know and or teach what they could do best.
Other mini-scale projects related to the “Lend Art” project will pop up occasionally throughout the whole year.
