Woofer Ten as a local non-profit organization (registered in March 2009), is formed by a group of like-minded art practitioners (experienced artists, curators, critics, researchers, educators, art spaces organizers, etc). Their primary aim is to introduce a lively conception of contemporary art engaging with community, and the society at large, opening up a new exciting artistic territory for exploration and experimentation.

Here, they are glad to announce, that they have just been selected by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and entrusted to run the Shanghai Street Artspace (404, Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon) for a year. We are now in preparation stage, with the official opening set around mid-October.

Their programme at the Shanghai Street Artspace will include seven curated exhibitions / year-round projects. We will show a wide range of artists working with various media, all tailor-made for the artspace’s unique characters and site-specific context, and with great local social-political relevance. They will be comprehensively associated with guide tours / workshops / talks etc., reaching out to the neighborhood communities, school and tertiary institutions networks, art circle as well as the general public and mass media.

Alongside, they will hold plenty of ad hoc activities. One could also always drop by and visit our artist-in-residence, Mr Wong Nai-chung, and discover more about his trade in producing traditional Chinese wreaths (faa paai). Another young artists studio programme will soon have it open call too.

Apart from C&G Artpartment (an independent artspace based in Mongkok), and the Hong Kong Arts Discovery Channel (an online platform featuring current issues in local arts scene), they are still looking for more potential partners from different sectors, to join hand in serving the arts and the community.

Since they are non-profit and run with limited subsidy, we would be grateful for cash donation or sponsorship in any possible kinds. Your support to our projects would definitely contribute to a better arts and cultural life in Hong Kong.
