Born 1961 in China Song Ling received a bachelor of fine arts from China National Academy & one of the several artist involved with the 1985 New Wave Art movement in China.
Song Ling works & lives in Melbourne Australia since 1988 & has been a finalist in The Archibald Prize (2008 2011), The Sulman Prize (2009), Wynne Prize (2011) The Blake Prize for religious art (2007) Museum collection - Asia Pacific Museum Los Angeles & private collections in Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, UK, China & Australia.
Song Ling uses the colours & designs from traditional Chinese folk art & embroidery. Ling formal training of Traditional Chinese Ink & Water colour - blending Western Contemporary Ideas of Pop Art & repetition which was a strong influence in Ling work even in the 1985-1987 pieces completed in China ( Fusion of Old Technique V/s New Technique).
