Adam NEATE biography | artworks | events

Adam Neate was born in Ipswich, Suffolk. In 1977.

He graduated from Design department of Suffolk College, and then moved to London and took a job as a graphic designer in an advertising agency.

In fact, painting has always been what he wanted to do and during his free time he chose to paint on cardboard boxes collected from the streets, avoiding the use of canvas because of its cost. His works are composed by tearing up the cardboard material, then building them up in layers and stapling them together by hand.

Adam Neate has garnered international acclaim within recent years, with his artwork being sold at auctions fetching up to £ 78,500 per piece. In his solo exhibition in 2007, Adam Neate – Painting Pots and Prints was sold out within hours of the opening. The artist is has made his name by leaving his art on the streets for free, and now as a celebrated artist in his London Show in 2008, Adam Neate has taken this concept one step further by leaving a thousand of his ‘mass produced’ artwork - with an estimated worth of £1 million - all over the streets throughout London for the public to pick up for free.

He cites his influences as his wife, Waleska, New York graffiti artist, Daze, and Picasso.

His work has gained recognition from important art institutions, including the National Gallery, the Tate, and the National Portrait Gallery.
