Passion Speak XI: Behind the Scenes at the Museum - A Curator Comments

Szeto Yuen-kit is the Curator of the Xubaizhai Collection at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. He has been passionate about Chinese paintings and calligraphy for three decades, yet he still feels a little uneasy and cautious about curating exhibitions. In this Passion Speak event, he'll share his experiences as a curator, revealing some behind-the-scenes stories about master artists and, their paintings, and the challenges that curators face.

Szeto Yuen-kit has a Bachelor's Degree (Art Education) from Warwick University, a Master of Philosophy Degree (Chinese Art History) from The University of Hong Kong, and a Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies from the University of Sydney. He has worked at the Hong Kong Museum of Art since 1986, and is now the Curator responsible for the museum's Xubaizhai Collection and Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Collection. He has organised several important exhibitions of Chinese paintings and calligraphy, including "The Pride of China: Masterpieces from the Palace Museum': and also many solo exhibitions of works by 20th-century masters such as Li Keran,Wu Guanzhong, Huang Yongyu, Qi Baishi, Lin Fengmian and Ding Yanyong.
