Hong Kong-born artist and poet Claire LEE explains: “Have you ever spent a lazy afternoon in the backyard, when suddenly you notice that everything has gone quiet? You might wonder: ‘Why was it so calm and peaceful right before the storm hit?’ I’m fascinated by the eerie calmness inside my mind. Like my previous work, this new collection uses white as the main colour to express the calm but chaotic state of an artist’s mind. This time, the subject is ‘trash’ - I collected all kinds of debris and abandoned things, which express the beauty of bravery, energy and chaos. Some of my poems will be displayed alongside the paintings.”
