by Pao Galleries Location: Pao Galleries, Hong Kong Arts Centre
Date: 18 May - 30 May 2013
In celebration of the Hong Kong Arts Centre’s (HKAC) 35th anniversary, a series of programmes is being presented since October last year. This May, HKAC will present the inaugural exhibition focusing on the private collections of local art collectors, titled “Hong Kong Arts Centre 1st Annual Collectors’ Contemporary Collaboration—May Dialogues”.
The trend of art collection in Hong Kong has rapidly changed since the launch of ART HK (recently renamed as Art Basel) in 2008. In this exhibition, HKAC attempts to demonstrate the different facets of local art collections. In line with HKAC’s mission to promote contemporary art, the exhibition will showcase quality art collectables including photography, oil paintings, ink paintings and conceptual art. To enhance viewers’ understanding of the collection of art, HKAC creates a public viewing platform to glimpse into private collections, presenting the multi-perspectives of contemporary arts while provoking dialogues among fellow art lovers.
Curated by the internationally renowned Johnson Chang, the “May Dialogues” exhibition has received generous support from 5 local art collectors to show their partial collections. Audience will not only have the chance to see masterpieces which are even shown for the first time in Hong Kong, they will also discover the limitless creativity of contemporary artists.
