UBS Art Collection has confirmed it will bring a selection from its world renowned contemporary art collection to Hong Kong for a public exhibition between November 17 and November 30. The news comes hard on the heels of UBS announcing its intention to renew its 8-year old partnership with the Hong Kong Open.
In conjunction with the Hong Kong Arts Centre, UBS is bringing some of the most important pieces from its collection to Hong Kong for the first time. Entitled Pop Sensation, the exhibition will track the development of Pop Art from its origins in American consumer culture of the late 1950s and its spread across the world as artists sought to articulate the contradictions of an increasingly commoditized world.
Pop Sensation will include major works by post-war artists including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Thukral and Tagra, and Cao Fei. Many of the works, which have been displayed in the world's leading museums and galleries including the Tate Modern, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Mori Museum, and the National Art Museum of China.
*Update: In addition, UBS has added more depth to its Pop Sensation exhibition, including two new works to the Collection by Chinese emerging artist, Shi Guowei.
Edward Ruscha, Claes Oldenburg and Andreas Gursky will further add to the international appeal of the Pop art exhibition that already boasts works from the likes of Warhol and Lichtenstein. The exhibition, comprised of works from the UBS Art Collection - a corporate holding of some 35,000 works that adorn the bank's offices around the World - now promises a diverse array of works ranging in size, shape, medium, and message that will be as stimulating individually as they will be collectively.
Opening hours: 10am-8pm
