Hua Qing was born in Anfui, China in 1962 when Cultural Revoloution had taken over the land. After studying at the Anhui College of Arts and The Central Academy of Art and Design, Hua Qing started desigining stage arts for the Chinese avant-garde scene in 1980’s. However Hua Qing left the country to Yugoslavia during the Cold War in order to realize more impulsive way of expressing thoughts that he found in the spirit of Western Art.

By seeing conflictions for many years, Hua Wing started painting to recognize a true reason for human beings to exist under the great theme of “Cogito, ergo sum” propounded by the French philosopher, René Descartes. Hua Qing mainly paints ape as a symbolic figure in between animals and humans with the formula of relativity theory as background. Hua Qing considers the process of painting as the consequence of perceptions and emotions gained from what the artist has experienced in past. The ape painted by Hua Qing’s energetic brush strokes and unique color scheme speaks to us with the mediating eyes, about what definite behavior for animals to evolve into humans and for humans to remained as human is “thinking”.

Hua Qing successfully held solo and group shows in Europe, Asia and US while he was awarded for international prizes in Slovenia and China. It is the first solo exhibition in Japan at MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY that starts from 12 of October.
