“About this world – because we keep dreaming, we keep feeling lost.”
“Dream” is a fantasy state which is beyond reality, while “thorn” signifies the tentacles of plants through which plants perceive the surrounding world. In my previous artistic practice, I used to compare the realistic world to a garden which is full of bizarre plants and flowers. Inspired by my exploration which focuses on several particular parts throughout the journey, I further put in the image of “thorn” to symbolize not only the crazy moment while various perceptions function with each other but also the extreme self-catalysis for the absolute liberation.
The realistic world we are living in is actually decorated with a great amount of thorns. We are thus being reminded to take our steps cautiously. Shining with dream-like innocent radiance, the thorns attract us and care us. Urged by an unknown desire, we stretch out our hands, trying to touch them as if we have already lost our ability to see. It is a desire which cannot be identified – an unstoppable desire to feel and to perceive. The touch will bring us pain, and the pain will make us feel the compatible sense of existence. While the mild pain awakes our five senses which have been fallen asleep deeply, we suddenly come back to ourselves, realizing that… we are still breathing… The once-withered perception system thus re-starts to function.
