Richard Koh Fine Art (RKFA) Kuala Lumpur is delighted to present a group exhibition titled Obscured Lucidity, featuring works by Saiful Razman, Fendy Zakri and Raduan Man from 8 – 21 Oct, 2014.
The show serves as an introduction to a series of focused exhibitions that will be staged in the gallery’s Kuala Lumpur and Singapore spaces exploring trajectories displayed in abstract and figurative works by young or emerging Malaysian artists. It is also an attempt to frame and present a selection of young artists’ works to the wider audience.
Obscured Lucidity, concentrating on the idea of non-figuration in local contemporary painting, unites three young artists whose works display a visual language that limits graphic references from the physical world. Displaying strong formal influence of works by Abstract Expressionist artists, the paintings focus on ideas of the simplification of forms found in nature and the expression of mental states and emotions on canvas.
Though varied in application and media, the works uniformly display common traits such as the gestural application of paint, vivid colours and a strong emotional intensity.
