The Aqua Arts Foundation presents the start of a special installation project with contemporary Chinese artist Jiang Zhi (b.1971), focusing on a series of works on canvas and silkscreen.
The visual inspiration for the works in Jiang Zhi’s ‘System Failure’ series is derived from glitches on a malfunctioning computer display. As the artist explains, these works ‘explore the notion that the world is what we display and perceive it to be’. On a broader topic, these works also discuss the broader topic of ‘image’ formation and the philosophy behind ‘physiognomy’ and, in effect, how we perceive our world and what’s in it according to our own values and experiences.
Executed in oil and canvas and silkscreens, the works in this series range from approximately one-meter square to three meters, and are available for viewing and for sale through the Aqua Arts Foundation.
