Leave it in the Ground is an exhibition by the Williams River Valley Artists' Project protesting against the impact of the recent explosion in coal mining. Over the past decade, Newcastle, 160km north of Sydney, has become the world's busiest coal port and Australians find themselves amidst a coal-rush generated by an alliance between governments and corporations that runs riot with little regard for the environment and communities, or for the future of Australia and the planet.
Leave it in the ground brings together 9 artists who focus on this growing environmental crisis, showing the work of artists Sue Callanan, Neil Berecry-Brown, Juliet Fowler Smith, Noelene Lucas, Christine McMillan, Ian Milliss, Margaret Roberts, Toni Warburton and David Watson.
