Yumiko Chiba Associates viewing Room Shinjuku is pleased to announce 'picture in picture,' a solo exhibition by Etsuko Watanabe.
Watanabe has drawn the inside of an apartment or a basement, a mirror in a room, or a realistic scenery in Dusseldorf or Tokyo, and as arranging lyrical sky, light, or sometimes a geometric design with it, she has announced artworks which abstraction and representation coexist.
The exhibition with 'picture in picture' technique uses attributes of TV to explain a picture is unrealistic and our visual recognition is very unclear in an independent view.
After studying under Gerhard Richter at Kunstakademie Dusseldorf, he has worked in Germany for 30 years. This is the first solo exhibition after returning to Japan.
