Artist(s): Keiji UEMATSU
Date: 11 May - 8 Jun 2013
We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of works by Keiji Uematsu " Cutting‐Axis・Latitude・Longitude " from May 11 (Sat), 2013 at Yumiko Chiba Associates viewing room shinjuku.
Keiji Uematsu consistently produces works of unconscious and unseen things such as gravity, attraction and magnetic field by visualizing and making viewers feel them. He is an artist who is internationally active, based in Japan and Germany.
Cutting is a body of installation which Uematsu continued to produce from 1971. In Japan, he concentrated on working them with the use of block, jack and wedge about 10 years from the initial period. Those works at this period will be reconstructed and presented at this exhibition. Also, the photo works in 1973, Horizontal Position, Vertical Position and Right Angle Position will be exhibited, which shows the balanced relationship between Uematsu and existing objects he presented in the Cuttting by physical performance. His drawing works during the same period will be also presented. Enjoy the dynamic blending the photos and drawings with the installation.
