Pichaya Khunnawat graduated with a BFA from the Department of Visual Arts at Bangkok University in 2002 and a MFA in Painting from Silapakorn University in 2007. His first solo exhibition Wanna Have … Wanna Be was part of the Brand New Project 2003, and he has also participated in the group exhibitions Villager’s Voice: Public Art Project at Pong Police Station, Loei Province (2001), Degree Show at the Department of Correction’s Museum, Bangkok (2002), and School of Bangkok at Tadu Contemporary Art, Bangkok (2005). In 2007, he held a solo exhibition Raw/Rare at Bangkok’s 100 Tonson Gallery and participated in ShContemporary 07 in Shanghai,China , in which the artist conveyed in a raw and critical manner, Thai society’s growing extortive mindset regarding issues of money in the midst of capitalist rapacity.
