The Drawing Room is excited to present Shinji Ohmaki: Disappearance and Formation.
It continues his “Echoes-Crystallisation” series that contain the images of almost-incorporeal floral motifs signifying a certain loss in the face of urban development. Through these works, Ohmaki “emphasizes the existence of those things that became invisible by crystalizing them and making visible to this world again." For Disappearance and Formation, the artist incorporates traditional Filipino ensemble of the barong and saya to further engage the perspective of how culture and heritage accumulated over centuries is being detached from contemporary life.
