Exquisite in taste and rich in spiritual content, Zeng Xiaojun’s skillful renditions of rocks and trees are the fresh incarnations of the thousand-year-old Chinese literati tradition. Born in Beijing in 1954 and graduated from Beijing’s Central Art and Craft Academy in 1981, Zeng Xiaojun is a contemporary literati who reminds us of the importance of Chinese ink painting as an essential Chinese art form. Zeng’s debut solo exhibition at Sotheby’s entitled Labyrinths presents new, psychologically charged, works. Stemming from the roots of nature, the artist takes a journey of self-discovery.
