YY9 Gallery is pleased to present the “in Between blue serenity” solo exhibition of Dutch- born Hong Kong artist Simone Boon. Simone will present a new series of photography, with images also being transformed into video and ceramic to explore the connection between recognizable space, abstract space, and how these spaces play a role in human mind. Audience is invited to participate and experience the blue journey she has created.

“Blue intrigues me a lot since it has such an ambivalent meaning. Blue can have that connotation with sadness, but at the same time is the color of the sky, connecting me to freedom or to the other side, whether this is another continent or heaven.” -Simone Boon

This series of work capture her perception of blue, which leads her to the sky that spreads out over the globe, unifies separation and connects distance. It is also a place for relativity. Her created visual aesthetic; imagery of fragmented, broken forms and floating patterns expressing the freedom of the sky will be presented in this show.

About the artist:
Simone Boon, Dutch from origin, has resided and studied in Hong Kong since 2004. She completed a Master study in Theology (M.Div.) and received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Ceramics) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2007. Currently, she is studying a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Photography) and a Master’s degree in Fine Art (Ceramic & Multimedia) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Hong Kong and overseas.
