Slow Life - A ceramic exhibition by Yokky Wong Mei Han
by YY9 Gallery
Location: YY9 Gallery, Hong Kong
Date: 8 Nov - 29 Nov 2008

YY9 Gallery is pleased to present a ceramic exhibition by Yokky Wong Mei-han, with the theme “Slow Life”. Works in this series were made last year by Wong in a 2-month artist-in-residence program in France that records her rhythm of a city person to enjoy the natural environment.

Yokky Wong believes, “city life is always busy. We have 24 hours a day but our work is never ending; we always feel sleepy no matter during daytime and night-time; we don’t have enough time to be with friends and family; we can never finish our reading and can never play hard...”

As an urbanite in a small town in Southern France, she slowed down her pace to enjoy the sunshine, spared some time to being bored and found out there were indeed lots of interesting stuffs in life. She rebuilt the door of her studio; put clay on cauliflower and press it to become coral, sold fake fruit in the food market, made food case for kitty in town, tried to crossover Baguette and Croissant with Chinese bread. Slow down a little bit, she found out there are lots more fun around her.
