YY9 Gallery is pleased to present “Impressions”, a solo exhibition by Norman de Brackinghe. Norman will present a series of photographs, which transform visual accidents observed on dilapidated walls, rust, tattered posters and road markings into an art form. The effects of time, weather and often neglect, produces wonderful combinations of colour and texture.
“During my frequent walks through the city, I was struck by the many accidental images, often formed without intent or even purpose. This interest led to my recording and exhibiting photographs of these fragments which we often chose to ignore.”–Norman de Brackinghe
This exhibition, in which warm and muted colours predominate, continues his visual exploration of the urban environment and older parts of Hong Kong. A series of images show his unique ability to find beauty which other eyes may regard as trash. Without computer manipulation, his work is a faithful portrayal of what he sees.
