YY9 Gallery is pleased to present “Hidden Emotion”, a joint paintings exhibition by Ling Lai and Silvia Chan. In this exhibition, the two artists will present a new series of works to express the feelings deep inside their minds and hearts, with the use of different media including acrylic and oil pastel on canvas. Both artists team up for a varied view on abstract expression to reveal the spirituality and purity of works.

In her new series of works, Silvia Chan is inspired by “The Secret Garden”, the well-known novel written by British author Frances Hodgson Butnett. While Greenery became the theme of her paintings, the series also continues her sensational response to the colors of nature. She manages to enlarge the power of colors by drawing stroke by stroke delicately.

Ling Lai’s recent work explores the possibilities of layering, semi-transparent colors and merging of colors. When colors are applied, they merge and create an unknown organic form which is something uniquely created by their own. By revealing and then concealing, this process allows her to express freely the emotion, mood and sensation deep within her.
