Noise of Organ
by CyArt Gallery
Location: CyArt Gallery
Artist(s): Jun-Seub SHIM
Date: 21 Aug - 3 Sep 2013

The reason why the artist uniquely uses a concept 'noise' is that he wants to explore a meaning or concept on another side of word with his interest in an unpleasant noise.

The installation works in the exhibition consist of pipes which present organs of human body, and a speaker on some of them makes a sound of a heartbeat. Also, in the center of space, a lighting intersects light and blackout, and steel pipes create a delicate experience stimulating hearing and vision in terms of the viewers' move.

He started the installation work with a mix of machine and noise from facing with 'ear pains', hearing noise without sound from outside. He experienced that distortion of sound can become one of space so that it could a chance to feel another dimension of space, sound from inner body. Thus, he delivers a metaphor of contemporary city which is a condition or environment of organs as using sound of body.

Maybe the artist wants to show a fact of physical formation where people located through sounds occurring in the contemporary building structures, which symbolizes the human body. His work focuses on noise, redundant sound, to broaden an arrange of experience. In terms of it, modulated sound can stimulate a space and impressively make people discover a meaning and location of space.
