Flowing scenery

Location: CyArt Gallery
Artist(s): Minho KIM
Date: 14 May - 21 May 2013

Minho Kim has researched about visual awareness for urban space. At the last exhibition, he has worked drawing moving images of road on the bridge, which was visual acquisition in terms of visible movement, not a momentary image. Drawing work is to leave a trace of image repeated removing and crating rather than describing a clear shape.
But in this exhibition, he utilized photo and video to create a depth of time and a visual structure to catch a pictorial moment. His work process is not only to recreate or express an object but also to reconsider about it in terms of time. In addition, for figurative expression, he extended recognizable space to time-based or cognitional territory.
- Seung Hoon Lee

Even though we see a same scene, each person aware of it differently in terms of differences of time, viewpoint, experience, and emotion. I condense them into a screen. With the theme 'bridge', I record various ways to access the bridge and edit them as one scene. While a video work is a repeated process of compression and dissolution, photo generates an overall image of an object.
My work starts from an omniscient viewpoint in Oriental painting. This method is related to my subjective intervention to the essence of object and through the work, I try to experiment contemporary change and expression of Oriental painting philosophy.
