The artist Yang Hee Jang's work has started from a question for her body and identity derived from it. As an experiment method, she segmented and fragmentized images of her body to reveal a difference with others, or deconstructed an united image to identify a gap between a view for herself and her existential position.
After it, the artist also started studying people in the moder city, and she used a blurred or inverted image like one on a sensitive paper before print. Recently, through digital print and engraving method, she removes existing images partly and stacks them to show layering figures. Through these works, she tries to tell the reality of today in the city hidden by anonymity. In this way, anonymous images may be the signifier of absence toward nonexistent meaning, and fragmented and concealed images are just something in a 'quotation mark' constructed by illusion.
