Pablo Reinoso: A Solo Exhibition
by Art Plural Gallery
Location: Art Plural Gallery
Artist(s): Pablo REINOSO
Date: 16 Jan - 3 Mar 2012

Art Plural Gallery is pleased to announce the inaugural solo exhibition of French-Argentinean artist Pablo Reinoso in South-East Asia. The exhibition titled Pablo Reinoso: A Solo Exhibition features 15 sculptures, specifically created by the artist for his Singapore premiere.

A leading personal showcase for Pablo Reinoso in Asia, the artist will be in town to unveil the prototype of a new monumental work. During this special occasion, the gallery is publishing a comprehensive art book – the namesake tribute to Pablo Reinoso. Dedicated to his extensive tri-dimensional oeuvre, the pages of the publication will feature a selection of works, illustrations from the artist’s creative process, a special interview and other original materials belonging to his private archive.

“Pablo Reinoso is highly-revered internationally. Reinoso’s large-scale sculptures are displayed in prominent artistic cities like New York, Paris and Tokyo, and we are proud and privileged to introduce his works in South-East Asia,” comments Frédéric de Senarclens, CEO of Art Plural Gallery.

Pablo Reinoso, inspired by a multicultural upbringing in both Argentina and France, is an artist, designer and researcher. He plays with sculpture and hones his craftsmanship using wood, slate, brass, marble, and steel. Reinoso focuses his search on the entity, its transference, and the unconscious, using space and time as an environment. A culmination of the artist’s discoveries brought him to use other materials such as air. This medium enabled the Qi (energy) to flow in all dimensions of his self-orientated link between art history and psychoanalysis (I am my alter ego). Today, the material object in Reinoso's work is just a vector to convey his inspiration and thought. The actual study of functionality leads to the inner dialogue between art and design, which transcends into the outer object itself. This is illustrated through the mutation of mirrors, chairs, benches and garments along with the chaos of the unknown using our five senses.

About the Artist

Pablo Reinoso was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1955. He studied architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. Throughout his life, Reinoso conducted his exploration in a Yin-Yang manner. On one side, his portfolio features numerous design projects for the packaging, furniture, interiors and luxury consumer goods world and on the other, the endless quest of the intangible boundaries of the soul through art, and think tanks.

In the 90’s he created monumental sculptures, some of which initiated the establishment of landmark installations. Reinoso's international reputation shines, as his rich array of pieces and their depth blazes the trail for a new dimension of art/design.

Pablo Reinoso's sculptures were featured in international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial, Japan. Public collections around the world include: Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo; Mamba, Buenos Aires; Macro, Rosario; Société des Amis du MNAM; Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, Paris, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. The artist’s solo shows were held at the; Museo de Arte Latoamericano (Malba) Buenos Aires, Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia (MAM), Brazil. His group shows include: Centre Pompidou, Paris, Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Museum of Art and Design (Mad), New York, to name a few. Pablo Reinoso lives and works in Paris.
