Inaugural Exhibition Avant Première
by Art Plural Gallery
Location: Art Plural Gallery
Date: 3 Jun - 3 Sep 2011

Singaporeʼs art scene is becoming more vibrant everyday. After the success of Art Stage Singapore in January 2011, the opening of the lotus Artscience Museum in February and the Singapore Biennale recently, the newest actor to enter the scene is Art Plural Gallery. This unique four story space dedicated to high-end Modern, Contemporary Art and Design is the Lion Cityʼs new gem.

Run by Swiss art dealer Frédéric de Senarclens, Art Plural Gallery will present multidisciplinary works by international artists Marc Quinn, Fernando Botero, Barry Flanagan and Julian Schnabel to name a few. For its inaugural group exhibition “Avant Première” in June, a rare oil painting by Pablo Picasso and outstanding works by Chu Teh-Chun will be unveiled.

“Singapore will become the new destination for art collectors in South East Asia and Art Plural Gallery will certainly contribute to Singaporeʼs flourishing cultural life” says Frédéric de Senarclens. This innovative artistic platform will be dedicated to solo and group exhibitions, installations, public art projects, conferences, and art publications.

The Gallery itself is a historical masterpiece over a four story Art Deco heritage building built from 1930 to 1950, complete with concrete floors, soaring ceilings, and expansive glass windows. Its location in the heart of the Cultural District on Armenian street, across from Peranakan Museum and the Substation, will add another milestone on the art path of Singapore. The Gallery plans to hold future shows every two months featuring Modern Art masters, established and emerging contemporary talents from all over the world. The fourth floor, accessible only by a private elevator will display the most prominent art works.

An interesting focus on Design will set forth a new dimension to the Gallery through attractive pieces by internationally acclaimed artists such as, Ron Arad, Thierry Dreyfus, Karim Rashid and Johanna Grawunder. Today, Design is recognised as an integral form of art pushing the boundaries of an objectʼs functionalities and formal qualities, which create an endlessly emerging creative language. Art Plural Galleryʼs exceptional location and remarkable artistic line, is about to bring a new breath to the Singapore art world.
