Still Sitting On The Wall
by Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre
Location: Lumenvisum at JCCAC
Artist(s): Gavin AU
Date: 1 Apr - 24 Apr 2011

“Wall” is a very common object in our everyday life but it also separate people from their homeland, the city outside the “Wall” is evolving, maybe one day our homeland will be completely segregated , and we can only have a glance until we climb to the top of the “Wall”.

Gavin Au is a young emerging artist who is being well-known of art creation with D.I.Y. digital camera. He believes an artist should create his own tool for the creation of art. In recent years, he is focusing on photography as a media for dialogue with the society. In this exhibition, he created a new D.I.Y. camera and a portable outdoor darkroom to explore this “Still sitting on the wall” tintype series. Gavin tried to present one set of his artworks as a response to the phenomena happened in China and Hong Kong in the past year.

“Sit on top of the wall, no matter it is the fantasy or hesitation towards the future, we can only remain sitting on top of this borderline” Gavin Au
