Three-Dimensional Abstract Landscapes
by Karin Weber Gallery
Location: Karin Weber Gallery
Artist(s): Alberto REGUERA
Date: 4 Nov - 24 Dec 2011

Alberto is back to Hong Kong for his second solo exhibition after a successful show 'Beyond Form II' at the City Hall sponsored by The Spanish Consulate last year. His three-dimensional acrylic paintings bring great depth to his work. Colours are superimposed and the paintings are finished off with fine layers of metallic pigment of Prussian blue, lead orangselfe and red solintor colours among others. He is very "poetic" in the working with painting materials, textures and the act of painting it.

These “object paintings” describe fragments of nature made abstract by the artist. The external landscapes that he has visited are transformed through painting into interior landscapes. Using a contemporary technique, he recalls the charm and cracked textures of older landscape paintings by his predecessors. The titles of the paintings often refer to elements which are cosmic, atmospheric (e.g. Self Cumulus) or aquatic (e.g. Scarlet Night Over The Sea).
