Abstracted
by Picture This
Location: Picture This Gallery
Artist(s): Norman de BRACKINGHE, Tony PRICE
Date: 11 Mar - 27 Mar 2010

Norman de Brackinghe and Tony Price are both Hong Kong based graphic designers and photographers, and each has over thirty years experience working in the design field. Their common background and experience allows them both to carry a sensitive appreciation of imagery into their work as photographers. Norman de Brackinghe has exhibited his photographic work widely in Hong Kong over the past five years and here for the first time is co-exhibiting with Tony Price.

Where Norman finds his artistic expression in the distressed abstraction of Hong Kong’s streets and walls, Tony looks up to find abstraction through the reflective patterns in Hong Kong’s high rise buildings. Although their subjects are apparently different, this exhibition demonstrates a commonality in the results of their work.  Each has observed the very detail of Hong Kong over many years and each portrays this with the abstract artistic expression of photography. The exhibition depicts Hong Kong’s urban fabric, its often inconspicuous and overlooked features and its vibrant living spirit – this is a Hong Kong that every day we all see but we never actually notice as we go about our busy and distracted lives.

Photographs in this exhibition will be available for sale in very limited editions of no more than 8 prints.
