The Cat Street Gallery is proud to announce that Signal 8, the gallery’s annual salon show is back for a fifth year. This year the exhibition focuses on Australian artists, featuring works from some of Australia’s most prominent contemporary artists, as well as pieces from the nation’s new and emerging talent. Like the strong summer typhoons it is named after, the show is a forceful, memorable collection of works swept together showcasing a curators pick of 22 artists and includes painting sculpture, photography and mixed media installation.
Signal 8: STORM brings a selection of works by some of the country's most prominent contemporary artists, as well as pieces from its celebrated emerging talent.
For the first time in its history, The Cat Street Gallery's iconic front glass windows will be used as part of the exhibition by Archibald-winning artist, Juan Ford, with his special installation piece, 'The Conference of the Birds'. Inside the exhibition the dramatic mood will continue, with bold colors, surreal shapes and multi-media, highlighting the impressive standard Australia continues to showcase on the world art stage.
The exhibition acts both as a preview of new and upcoming artists that the gallery will be working with, and as a retrospective of important Australian works shown in the last 12 months.
