The Gallery is an interactive multimedia project initiated by Chinese artist Wang Xin. It functions as an alternative exhibition space while it also stands as an independent art project in itself. Although it cannot be seen as a proper gallery in the formal sense - it is not owned by any individual or institution, it does not have any employees and there are no artworks for sell - its unique, almost self-sufficient system of operation could however, provides a platform for creative individuals worldwide to showcase their work to a wider audience.
Anyone who is interested in showing their work in The Gallery may submit their exhibition proposal using its online platform. While staying within the given requirements, all submitted proposals would be realized as part of the installation on a first-come-first-serve basis. Although in order for The Gallery to run itself systematically and smoothly, a lot of restrictions are applied in the way that the exhibitions are to be presented, on the other hand, the fact that there is no screening process, with a quick turnover, shows that it also allows much flexibility in how the participants could make use of this "machine".
