Lehmann Maupin is participating at Frieze London with a presentation of works by Billy Childish, Tracey Emin, Shirazeh Houshiary, Liu Wei, Angel Otero, Alex Prager, Robin Rhode, Do Ho Suh and Mickalene Thomas.
Frieze London is the premiere venue for Lehmann Maupin to exhibit new work by Los Angeles-based artist and filmmaker Alex Prager, whose representation by the gallery was announced in September. Prager’s staged, theatrical and cinematic photographs are inspired by a wide range of influences and references, including classic Hollywood cinema and experimental films; popular culture; and a mix of fashion and street photography. In November, Prager will open a solo exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., followed by her debut solo show at Lehmann Maupin’s Lower East Side gallery in January 2014.
Additional highlights in Lehmann Maupin’s booth include paintings by London-based Shirazeh Houshiary, who will present her sixth solo exhibition at Lehmann Maupin, New York, on 30 October; a selection of works by London-based Tracey Emin, whose neon work will be the subject of the artist's first solo museum exhibition in the United States at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, in December 2013; a major installation entitled Secret Garden, 2012, by London-based Do Ho Suh, whose solo exhibition opens at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, in November 2013; and a 25-panel photographic work by Berlin-based Robin Rhode, who opens a solo exhibition at the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase, New York, in Spring 2014.
