ARTCOURT Gallery is pleased to announce that Kozo Nishino has presented his sculptures at Themed Exhibition in the 9th Shanghai Biennale. Nishino is a leading figure in large-scale metal sculpture who has received international acclaim for his public art pieces. He was invited to stay in Shanghai for a few days for installation of 3 pieces in the newly renovated museum 'Power Station of Art' in Shanghai, which publicly opened on the same day as opening of the 9th Biennale, as first public museum which is specialized in contemporary art in main land China. The building was initially the site of Nanshi Power Plant which was set-up in 1897. The museum is facing Huangpu River, which is the main water source and symbol of Shanghai. Nishino's kinetic sculpture entitled 'On Becoming the Wind, Shanghai' with a form of bird's wings was installed on the terrace (5th FL) right above the main entrance. This piece is welcoming every single audience. On the 2nd floor, you can also enjoy a pair of works entitled 'Memory of Sky, Shanghai' made of titanium alloy with truss-supported structure. This is the first time for Nishino to present his work in main land China.
