Jin Hoon talked about his painting that some objects or status connect to personal experience and they are stimulated and interpreted, which is called 'punctum', as Roland Barthes mentioned. It means his painting is mainly focused on personal view. Thus, to look at his painting meaningfully, it needs endless research and exploration. A scene shows inner meditation rather than a strong insistence to viewers, and aspect of awakening.
Through small landscape, his painting shows different encounter of meanings in daily lives around us, which are stifles but cannot be ignored. Also, he points out our attitude pursuing a material benefit only. However, as he uses trifles and light colours, his painting makes a strategy of weak power to overturn our fixed and old custom. - by Young Hoon Lee (Ph.D in arts)
