We will never forget what has happened in Tohoku of Japan. We will never forget the day and the time when they lost their families and friends, houses were swept away and whole towns vanished instantly.
Many people came from overseas to extend a helping hand warm-heartedly. Those who have kindly visited to assist with the rescue and recovery effort, those who donated to the Red Cross, and those who simply carried Japan in their thoughts.
March 11th, 2011 showed us how this cruel nature can be, but also how beautiful the human spirit can be as many people worked together to bring hope to those who had none. The recovery is by no means over, but people in the disaster towns started to walk the road toward recovery.
This exhibition of 70 documentary photos for the one year of Tohoku after the earthquake taken by the Photo Department of Nikkei Inc. in the immediate aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and during the ongoing recovery. Unforgettable photo files faithfully show the human tragedy of this huge natural disaster and the optimism and resilience of local people as they struggle to rebuild their lives.
Step by step, trying to overcome the desperate crisis. Time passes on without stopping. That's what makes us want to keep our memories of beloved people, even though we feel grief, even if we are near tears when we remember them.
