Loop Barcelona
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 29 May - 7 Jun 2014

From may 29th to June 7th will be celebrated the twelfth edition of LOOP Barcelona, the meeting point and highlight in the international art agenda for new trends in video art and moving image practices.

Engaging Audiences: Issues on Dissemination of Moving Image is the theme chosen this year to define the program and open a space for reflection and debate.

With its three sections, LOOP Barcelona will introduce video proposals throughout the city, converting itself in the driving force of the video art market and the main promoter of developments in the community working with this medium:

LOOP Festival, previously known as Screen Festival, will present hundreds of works by video artists of various nationalities, spread out in more than 100 spaces all over the city: from museums, art center, galleries to bookstores, shops, libraries and restaurants.

LOOP Fair
will take place from June 5th to 7th, bringing together 44 galleries in the rooms of the Catalonia Ramblas Hotel to present 44 video creations, out of which 17 will be world premieres. Like every year, LOOP Awards will recognize the best work and the most distinguished gallery proposal, selected by an international jury presided by Bartomeu Marí (Director, MACBA). A novelty of this edition is the LOOP Professional Meetings, a series of working meetings born from the interest of numerous agents to discuss relevant issues of the sector. A dossier will be made available with the edited conclusions.

LOOP Studies (on June 5th and 6th) will concentrate an intensive program around the theme of this edition, Engaging Audiences, which will include panel discussions, round tables and case studies with some of the most prominent professionals of the sector. Further, on June 6th at the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona (CCCB), a Lab will be organized to address new forms of leadership in cultural programming and production, coordinated by LOOP in collaboration with University of Barcelona.

This year’s participating artists and agents include, among others Harun Farocki, Hans Op de Beeck, Natalia LL, Ron Maggliozzi, Lev Manovich, Patricia Sandretto, Mohau Modisaken, Núria Güell, Fabien Giraud et Raphaël Siboni, Mireia C. Saladrigues, Nikhil Chopra & Muunir Kabani, Guy Ben-Ner, Slater Bradley, Sigalit Landau, Oscar Muñoz, Kota Ezawa, Javier Rodrigo, Miquel García, Pau Faus, Josef Dabernig, Zhou Tao and Superflex.
